The Cerrado, in its vast expanse, presents great diversity. Its heterogeneity is expressed in distinct vegetation physiognomies, ranging from completely open areas, such as clean fields, to dense forest formations, like the Cerradão. Relief, soil conditions, and climate are some of the factors that determine these vegetation formations. Additionally, the Cerrado borders several biomes, such as the Amazon, Atlantic Forest, and Caatinga, incorporating elements of these in its ecotonal zones.
Consequently, these conditions enable the Cerrado to harbor a high richness of fauna species.
